Today, students had their last day of school for the 2025-26 school year. What a wonderful year we all had filled with wonderful learning, amazing school community connections, and tremendous growth. Each child should be very proud of their year’s accomplishments.
School resumes for those returning to Marion Carson School on Monday, August 31, 2026. Please see our school website and the “Back to School” section for specific details on students’ return to school.
Thank you to all families for a great school year and for supporting your children in and through their learning. We hope you have an enjoyable summer break, spending time together in whichever way brings joy and happiness.
I would like to encourage families while out on your adventures to speak to your students about their learning in school and consider ways that you can integrate and enhance their learning through their summer break. Consider questions such as…
- How does each adventure connect to numeracy? To literacy?
- How is our learning in science and social studies present in different ways all around us?
- What books bring you joy in reading?
- In what ways can we be physically active each day?
- How can daily mindfulness support positive learning, lifestyle, and mental health, and best prepare you for the upcoming school year?

Report Cards – Live for Viewing
A reminder that the June 2026 report cards are now live for viewing through your MyCBE account. They will be available for online viewing until July 31, 2026. Please take the time to read through and explain to your child their noted strengths and areas for growth through positive conversations. Appeal’s Day is June 29 from 9am-12pm by appointment only.
Grade 6 PAT – Preliminary Results
Yesterday, the grade 6 Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) preliminary results were sent home in sealed envelopes with our grade 6 students. Please review these results and guide some reflective practice with your child on their successes, as well as how this experience can support growth for future academics and test preparation.
Arriving Late for the 2026-27 School Year or Moved Over the Summer?
Our first day back at school for the 2026-27 school year is August 31, 2026. If your child is coming late due to extenuating circumstances and will not be present on the first day of school, please email the school office at MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca with your child’s full name, the reason for the absence, and the date of return. Please also be sure to let the school know if you have had a change of address and moved out of area over the summer. Reminder that Marion Carson School is at limited capacity, and families out of our designated catchment area for their specific program must transfer to their designated school.
Back to School Information
The back to school information for the 2026-27 school year has been updated on our school website. Please watch for an email from your child’s teacher later in the day on Thursday, August 27, 2026 with details about your child’s first day of school. Please refer to the school website for important information such as school hours, soft entry times, first day of school routines and more. The school office will be closed over the summer and reopens on August 26, 2026. Should you have any questions, please call the school office at 403 777-6050 during office hours, or email MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca and we will respond once the office reopens.
