Swimming Continues
Our second group of classes who are going swimming begins on Monday for the remaining K-4 students (continued for Mandarin Bilingual Kindergarten students). Thank you to all parents for supporting your children in being prepared for these swimming classes. If you haven’t already, please label all items, so that they can be returned to you if lost or left at the pool.
Macaroni Monday Spirit Day – Monday, May 13, 204
Just for fun…student leadership group is encouraging students to participate in Macaroni Monday, by coming to school on Monday, May 13 with their favourite type of pasta for lunch. Reminder that we don’t have the capacity to heat up foods at school for students, therefore meals should come in an insulated container. Thank you student leaders!
School Fees
Thank you for taking the time to review your MyCBE account for any outstanding fees. If you do not know how to pay your fees online, please click here for a step-by-step guide or contact our school office at marioncarson@cbe.ab.ca.
Marion Carson Run Club
Another great turnout of students, families and teachers at this morning’s run club. Run club this upcoming week will be on Thursday as it is a non-instructional day on Friday (no school for students).
Class Requests for 2024-25 School Year – Requests Due by May 16, 2024
Final reminder: As we approach the final months of the school year, we begin our planning process in creating our class lists for the 2024-25 school year. Current year classroom teachers create class lists in consultation with admin and teacher specialists. Through this process, we take into account various factors such as students are placed in a classroom believed to support a most successful learning experience for each child as a whole throughout the upcoming school year. Should you have a specific peer request or additional information to support class placement specific to your child’s education, we invite you at this time to email our school at MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca.
Please note that requests will only be considered if of an educational nature and which include a detailed reasoning to support the request. Although all requests are considered, they are not guaranteed as we must balance the various organizational needs of the school. Requests and additional information for consideration must be submitted before Thursday, May 16, 2024.
A Message on Behalf of School Council and Parent Association
Marion’s Meadow Clean-Up
We invite you and your family to join us for one (or both!) of these clean up days for Marion's Meadow! We are so lucky to have this amazing naturalized space at our school to support kids learning, play, and mental health. It is 100% maintained by the parent community, so we need your support to help it continue to be a beautiful and thriving space. No skills required. We'll have parent and master garden Deb there to direct us. All you need is some enthusiasm and some gardening gloves! Bring your kids along and make this a family activity!
May 11, 10am-11am (Saturday)

Spring Fling/Playground Fundraiser - May 31st 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Tickets $7/person or $25/family will be available on Eventbrite starting May 15th. No cash tickets at the door! Cash will be needed for concession and carnival tickets. The Carnival will have outdoor games, Kona Ice truck, glitter tattoo artist, concessions, photo booth, and of course a dance in the gym! Get ready for an evening to remember!
Spring Fling Volunteer Contest!
This year when you sign up to volunteer, enter your child/children's classrooms under "comments". The class with the MOST parent volunteers will win a popsicle party (1 Winner in K-2 classes, and 1 winner in Grade 3-6 classes)! We will keep in contact with the school to let the students know which classes are in the lead! We hope a bit of friendly competition between the classes gets everyone participating! Students in grade 4-6 can volunteer along your side as a way to foster leadership. Put their name in to volunteer with you and double your chances to win!
*A police clearance is no longer necessary for volunteering for parent association events.
When you sign up, please put the names of ALL your children's homeroom teachers in the comment box. If you have a child in Ms. Tsai's class, please specify "Ms. Tsai A" or "Ms. Tsai B". If you have a child in Ms. Zhang's class, please specify "Ms. W. Zhang" or "Ms. M. Zhang".
*If a parent does not clearly indicate the names of all their children's homeroom teachers in the comment box, their volunteer slots will not be added to the tally for those classes. We do not have the ability or time to search for names.
Let's see your school support! The school dances are our top fundraisers for the parent association! Let's make it a fun event for everyone!
