A reminder that the school is closed for Winter Break from December 21, 2024 through to January 5^th, 2025. School resumes Monday, January 6, 2025.

Thank you to all families who donated to our various initiatives this week (Toy Mountain, the Animal Rescue Foundation and to our Accessible Creative Playground. We collected many donations which we know will be a great support across the city. We had multiple whole school initiatives occur throughout this week which built on our sense of belonging within the school, and also made connections to the greater community. Thank you to the Winter Festival committee and student leadership group for all your support in organizing and leading these giving, citizenship, and belonging initiatives and activities for our school.

We would like to wish you all a Happy Holidays, and hope that you have a restful, safe and healthy break, in whichever way you choose to spend your time. Thank you for all of your efforts in support of your child(ren)’s learning here at Marion Carson School so far this year, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school when classes resume on January 6, 2025.

Staffing Update:

We would like to wish lunchroom supervisor Ms. Teresa Bryan a wonderful retirement with her last official day of work being January 6, 2025. She has been at Marion Carson School for 18 years and with the Calgary Board of Education for 34 years. Thank you Ms. Bryan for your dedication to all of the students that you worked impacted over your career, and how you supported their learning journey. We would like to welcome Ms. Uzma who will be starting as a new lunchroom supervisor at Marion Carson School, starting January 6, 2025. Uzma has been a substitute at are school often in the past and we are excited to have her officially join our team moving forward.

Marion Carson School Open House…Please Spread the Word!

Our open house for potential new families to Marion Carson School for the 2025-2026 school year in either the Mandarin Bilingual Program or Community English Program is January 9, 2025, at 5:30pm. Please spread the word about the great things happening at Marion Carson School and invite any interested families looking for more information to attend this evening and/or visit our school website here for more details.

School Improvement Results Reporting, School Development Plan, and Report to Parent on Fees

Alberta Education requires each school to create a plan to improve student learning. The School Development Plan aligns individual school goals with the identified goals in the CBE Education Plan | 2024-2027. Each year, schools capture evidence of continuous improvement towards the goals set. In accordance with Alberta Education’s Requirements for School Authority Planning and Results Reporting, schools then provide assurance to school communities by communicating student growth and achievement in an annual report that demonstrates improvement results and next steps. These results support continuous improvement of the quality and effectiveness of education programs provided to students while also improving student learning and achievement. Homeroom Class Photo Update

Lifetouch Photography has confirmed that our homeroom class photos will be taking place on January 22, 2025 for Mandarin Bilingual M/W Kindergarten and January 23, 2025 for all K-6 students.
