1. Happy Lunar New Year – Guo Nian Hao - 过年好
This Tuesday, February 17th is Chinese Lunar New Year! On behalf of Marion Carson Staff, we would like to wish everyone a wonderful Year of the Horse and Happy Lunar New Year – Guo Nian Hao 过年好! Next week, students across both programs will be participating in various Chinese cultural activities celebrating and learning about this important time of year in Chinese culture.
2. Community Resources for Students
The Calgary Board of Education and Marion Carson School send our thoughts and condolences to the school, community and all those impacted by the tragic events at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia. Different events may affect individuals in different ways, and it is important to seek support when needed. Students are encouraged to speak with their family members about their feelings and to lean on trusted supports as they process. We, at the school level are always there to support students as they navigate the ups and downs of their childhood. It is also important to be aware that there are many external supports available to families.

3. A Message from School Council and Parent Association
School Council and Parent Association Meeting
Our next School Council and Parent Association Meeting is this Tuesday, February 17 at 6:30 pm in the Library Learning Commons. At this meeting, Mr. Turner and Mrs. Ly will be sharing a School Planning and Engagement presentation, with opportunities for questions and feedback with regards to their planning for the 2026-27 school year. This, along with all School Council meetings, is one great way that the school provides an opportunity for families to have a voice in their child’s education. All parents/guardians are automatically members and able to attend these meetings. Please consider joining one or all of these meetings when able.
