Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,

In this message…

-          2026-27 School Year Intent Form – Action Required

-          Valentine’s Day Activities / Spirit Day (wear red, pink and/or white)

-          Mandarin Bilingual Program 2026-27 Registration Expression of Interest

-          A Message from School Council and Parent Association

A reminder that next week is a shorter week. There is no school on February 12 and 13 (due to Teacher’s Convention) and Monday, February 16th (due to Family Day). School would then resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

This week we had many field trips taking place for our students to share experiences and learning connections beyond the classroom. I would like to thank the many volunteers that came and supported the classrooms on these trips. We really appreciate your gift of time.

Some items of note…

1.          2026-27 School Year Intent Form – Please complete by February 11, 2026

Thank you to all families that have already completed their 2026-27 School Year Intent Form. Please complete one form for each child for current Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. This form helps us greatly in planning for the upcoming school year.

Click here to complete the 2026-2027 School Year Intent Form.

2.          Valentine’s Day Activities / Spirit Day (wear red, pink and/or white)

On Wednesday, February 11 students are invited to wear red, pink, or white clothing. Teachers will be sharing information specific to their classroom regarding Valentine’s Day learning and activities, and details about any items coming to school. Please connect with your child’s teacher should you have classroom-specific questions for this day. Although it is a kind gesture, like birthdays, we ask that food not be sent to school for classmates to eat, unless each item is individually factory packaged/sealed. These items will not be eaten at school but instead will be sent home with your child to support parent discretion.

3.          Mandarin Bilingual Program 2026-27 Registration Expression of Interest for Lottery Process for Prospective Students – Closes February 10 at 12pm noon

Please share this information with your family and friends that live within our school’s designated program catchments if they are interested in attending Marion Carson School next year in the Mandarin Bilingual Program. Our Mandarin Bilingual Program follows a lottery process due to school and program capacity limits. Interested prospective families should submit an expression of interest before February 10, 2026 at 12pm noon to be placed in the lottery and considered for a 2026-2027 spot. Registration details are found on the Calgary Board of Education’s Registration Page with more personalized information to Marion Carson School available online in our Open House PowerPoint.
