A warm welcome back to all families. We hope you were able to enjoy the time on break with family and friends. Students came back to school this week full of joy and were able to quickly return to their daily routines focussing on their next steps in learning.
A few items of note…
Lunar New Year Residency and After School Celebration
We are very excited to share that from February 3-7, 2025 we will be having our Whole School Lunar New Year Multi-Cultural Residency and Performance. This year, it will be a whole school residency for all students at the same time during this weeklong process, which will culminate with students performing at one of the two after school performances on Friday, February 7, 2025. Each homeroom class is assigned a specific performance to attend (see below) at which they will perform. These performances will be in the Marion Carson School gymnasium.
The purpose of the residency it to bring our school community together for the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake, to learn about and celebrate “Belonging” and our connections through “New Beginnings” at Marion Carson School, while also learning about the process of the art of theatre. We are thankful for the Marion Carson Parent Association who has provided $5000 in funds to reduce the residency cost. This has reduced the parent cost to $25/student. You will receive a message from the school once this fee is uploaded to your MyCBE Account.
Please plan on having your child being in attendance for their performance to celebrate this learning. We expect a full building on this evening during both performances, therefore to ensure that we’re not overcrowded, stay within our building capacity limits, and ensure that all families are provided an opportunity to attend their event, we ask that families limit their attendance to a maximum of two parents/guardians per family and their sibling(s).
When is my child’s performance?

Parents who have siblings performing at different times will be asked to leave the gym in between performances with all of their belongings as they pick up their children following the first performance, but are welcome to stay inside the building outside of the gym, awaiting the second performance.
Upcoming Field Trips / School Activities
A separate message has been sent home today by School Messenger to each grade about field trips/activities for the remainder of the year. We hope that this will help families to best plan for the costs of these trips as well as for volunteer opportunities. Watch your email and your child’s Google Classroom in the near future. Please note that the costs listed are approximate at this time, and the confirmed amounts will be stated on the cover letter of the consent forms/letters sent home for each activity, and loaded to your MyCBE account for payment once details for each trip are finalized.
Marion Carson School Open House…Please Spread the Word!
We had our Marion Carson Open House on January 9th for new families considering Marion Carson School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. We had a great turnout of parents interested in both our Mandarin Bilingual and Community English Programs. Please continue to spread the word to family and friends about the great things happening at Marion Carson School.
