Some items of note…
1. Lunar New Year Performances
We would like to thank all families who were able to attend last Friday’s Lunar New Year Performances. We had a lot of positive feedback both from families and students about the residency and final performances. We are very proud of our students for all of their hard work in making the show possible, and for being courageous while being on stage. Well done students!
2. 2026-27 School Year Intent Form – Please complete by February 11, 2026
Believe it or not, planning has already started for the 2026-27 school year, as we work towards understanding our school organization in terms of our enrolment and student population projections. We ask that all families complete the Intent Form linked below by February 11, 2016.
Please complete the form below to indicate whether or not you anticipate that your child/ren will attend Marion Carson School again next year. We realize that plans may change over time and would ask you to kindly let the office know in these cases, so that we may staff with accurate numbers. If you have more than one child at Marion Carson School, please fill out one form for each child for current Kindergarten to Grade 6 students.
Please note that students completing their final year of their respective program at Marion Carson School automatically roll their registration into their next designated school unless the school office is informed otherwise.
- Grade 4 Mandarin Bilingual Program students go to Colonel Irvine School for grade 5.
- Grade 6 Community English Program students go to F.E. Osborne School for grade 7.
Once your child is registered at Marion Carson School, the registration continues to roll over for the next year unless we hear otherwise from the family. This applies to all families who are deemed residents of the CBE and have their primary residence in our catchment area (varies based on program). If you have any questions, or move out of our catchment area, or have a change of address, please contact the school office by phone at 403 777-6050 or by email at MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca. Families out of the attendance area for their specific program must move to their designated school to start the 2026-27 school year.
Please have this form completed no later than February 11, 2026.

3. School Video Surveillance Technology
You may have noticed that our school recently had an upgrade to their indoor and outdoors video surveillance system. This information was discussed at a past School Council meeting, with feedback being collected along with a question and answer period. Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the School Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are school administration and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by emailing the school office.
As part of this upgrade, school administration was able to advocate for an upgrade to provide east door access for students and staff. We are piloting this east door system for the Calgary Board of Education. This specific access system is not yet up and running, but is expected to be operational in the near future. Please note, that visitors to the school (including parents, guardians and siblings) and students arriving late will continue to only be given access to the school through the main west doors entrance.
