  1. Lunar New Year Residency

This year, our Lunar New Year residency will be from January 19 to 23, 2026 with Trickster Theatre. Final performances / Lunar New Year celebrations will be on January 23, 2026, with two morning performances, and two evening performances. Each group of students will be performing two times on this day. Details as to when each homeroom class is performing are listed below. Please make note of your child’s specific performance times.

To help make this residency a success, we are in need of many volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, please sign-up using the attached sign-up sheet provided by Trickster Theatre - Marion Carson Sign Up Genius. Thank you in advance for your support.

2. Marion Carson Open House

We were excited to see many prospective families at our Marion Carson School Open House yesterday evening. Registration for the 2026-2027 school year opens Monday, January 12th. Please share this information with your family and friends that live within our school’s designated program catchments if they are interested in attending Marion Carson School next year. Our Mandarin Bilingual Program follows a lottery process due to school and program capacity limits. Interested prospective families should submit an expression of interest between January 12, 2026 and when the lottery closes on February 10, 2026 at 12pm noon to be placed in the lottery and considered for a 2026-2027 spot. Registration details are found on the Calgary Board of Education’s Registration Page with more personalized information to Marion Carson School such as our Open House PowerPoint Presentation which will be posted shortly on our Marion Carson School Website.

Families currently attending either program at Marion Carson School, do not re-register for their respective program for the upcoming school year, as students automatically roll over into their assigned next year’s grade. If your child is at the highest grade level for their program, they will automatically be registered at their assigned middle school, unless we hear otherwise from parents through an email and completed transfer form. Grade 6 Community English Program students attend FE Osborne School for Grade 7, and Grade 4 Mandarin Bilingual Program students attend Colonel Irvine School for Grade 5.

Please note, that our school is currently at limited capacity for both programs, and is expected to remain at limited capacity for the 2026-27 school year. This means that our school is unable to have out of area students attend our school. Students who have an address outside of their program’s catchment area are expected to attend their designated school. Students would be transferred to their designated school to begin the 2026-27 school year, or earlier (in consultation with school administration).

3.    Report Cards – Live for Viewing Feb 24, 2026

You should have received a message Wednesday morning directly from CBE stating that report cards will be visible for online viewing for our students starting February 24, 2026. Although this is later than in past years, a reminder that parents are always encouraged to connect with their child’s teacher(s) with any questions, concerns, or clarifications about their child’s learning at Marion Carson School. Parents are also reminded to continue to review Google Classroom for whole class learning updates, supportive learning resources, classroom learning extensions, and upcoming events.
