Kindergarten Learning Celebration
Thank you to the Kindergarten students from both programs who hosted the school in a celebration of learning earlier this week. Your sharing of your learning about “love” in connection to the eagle and the different forms of what love looks like was heard, and embraced by our school community. Well done students. We are so proud of how much you’ve grown throughout this year and this celebration emphasized that growth.
Constables on Varsity Drive
Earlier this week, many of you may have noticed the police out on Varsity Drive supporting our students and families through road safety education. We appreciate that most families are choosing safety over convenience to ensure that everyone is safe coming to and from school. After the event, they gave the following message as key reminders for our families:
- Crossing the road in a space other than the designated crosswalks is jaywalking and against the law. It puts safety at great risk for the people crossing and also impedes the flow of traffic.
- Parking your car and leaving it unattended in the Hug & Go section along Varsity Drive is the same as leaving it unattended in a no parking zone. Hug and Go is only for a quick drop off right at the curb, so that families can quickly move along and make space for other families to do the same. The constable stated that and unattended car in this location is roughly a $130 fine, but most importantly impedes the flow of traffic.
- Families should be sure to use the sidewalks when coming to and from school, and avoid crossing through the parking lot or walking streets as this is a great safety concern.
Marion Carson Run Club
This morning was our final Run Club day. Thank you to all families who have been participating in this weekly event. I encourage everyone to continue to be active over the summer break. Many students talked about aspirations of joining a Calgary road race over the upcoming months, or were able to share their experiences in recent races. Please be sure to share with the school if your child engages in any running or Calgary community events as we would love to share the excitement with them and spread the word.
