- 2025-26 School Year Intent Form – Action Required
- 2025-2026 School Planning and Engagement Survey and Feedback Results
- Grade 1/2 Mandarin Bilingual Program Learning Celebration
- March 20/21 Parent Student Teacher Conferences
This past Wednesday, we had city police, traffic enforcement, and parking control come to our school along Varsity Drive to support student safety. It was great to see families following the rules of the road and signage. This was the least congested and safest day that we have seen this year along Varsity Drive. It showed that if we all work together in support of student safety and follow the rules of the road, then we can all have a pleasant, efficient, and safe drop off and pick-up for school. Thank you to families for continuing to always choose student safety over convenience in our school zone.
A few items of note…
2025-26 School Year Intent Form – Please complete by March 21, 2025
As our planning for the 2025-26 school year continues, we now shift to understanding our school organization in terms of our enrolment and student population projections. We ask that all families complete the Intent Form sent by School Messenger on Friday March 7, 2025
Please complete the form to indicate whether or not you anticipate that your child/ren will attend Marion Carson School again next year. We realize that plans may change over time and would ask you to kindly let the office know in these cases, so that we may staff with accurate numbers. If you have more than one child at Marion Carson School, please fill out one form for each child for current Kindergarten to Grade 6 students.
Please note that students completing their final year of their respective program at Marion Carson School automatically roll their registration into their next designated school unless the school office is informed otherwise.
- Grade 4 Mandarin Bilingual Program students go to Colonel Irvine School for grade 5.
- Grade 6 Community English Program students go to F.E. Osborne School for grade 7.
Once your child is registered at Marion Carson School, the registration continues to roll over for the next year unless we hear otherwise from the family. This applies to all families who are deemed residents of the CBE and have their primary residence in our catchment area (varies based on program). If you have any questions, or move out of our catchment area, or have a change of address, please contact the school office by phone at 403 777-6050 or by email MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca. Families out of the attendance area for their specific program must move to their designated school to start the 2025-26 school year.
Please have the form completed no later than March 21, 2025.
2025-2026 School Planning and Engagement
Thank you to all families who provided feedback to the school through the School Planning and Engagement survey as we begin our planning for the 2025-26 school year. The survey results and feedback are now posted to the school website here.
Grade 1/2 Mandarin Bilingual Program Learning Celebration – Feb 26, 2025
We would like to give a great big thank you to all Grade 1/2 Mandarin Bilingual Program staff and students for an amazing celebration of learning this morning. They were wonderful leaders in how they shared their learning about “Love” and the importance of taking care and showing love for yourself, while also spreading love throughout Marion Carson School and the world.
March 20/21 Parent Student Teacher Conferences
With labour action by CUPE Local 40 members limiting access to CBE schools after hours, the decision has been made by the CBE leadership team to move March parent/teacher conferences online. Based on this system directive, on March 20th and March 21st 2025, we will be shifting our school learning conferences online. Instead of the previously planned student-led conferences, these conferences will be more closely aligned with a Parent-Student-Teacher Conference as was experienced at conferences earlier this school year where teachers will speak to your child’s learning progress at school.
Conferences will run online Thursday evening from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Please note that teachers will be holding these meetings from their homes as they are not permitted to be in the school building in the evening. We ask for your understanding if at-home meeting conditions are not ideal. Friday, March 21st there is no school for all students. On this day, conferences will be held online from 8:00am -1:30pm (2:30pm for Mandarin Bilingual Kindergarten).
All conferences will be done online using Microsoft Teams. Conference time slots will be 15 minutes (10 minutes for Mandarin Bilingual Kindergarten). Your link to the Teams meeting for your interview will be in the email response you receive when you book your conference time. Linked is a document that outlines how to join an online School Conference. Please review this document before your conference time so that you know how to join the online meeting. How To Join a School Conference
To book an online School Conference with your child’s homeroom teacher, please login to your MyCBE/PowerSchool parent account and click the link for School Conferences. We ask families in the Mandarin Bilingual program with more than 1 teacher to book with their homeroom teacher who will be prepared to speak on behalf of your child’s learning across both rooms. The booking system will open to parents at 10am on Saturday, March 15th and closes Thursday March 20 at: 3:00pm.
Our Music Teacher Ms. Seto and Physical Education and Wellness Teacher Ms. Collins are also available for conferences within the above times. If looking to book a conference with either specialist please book early as spaces are limited.
We look forward to connecting with students and families to celebrate growth and set next steps in learning together.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dustin Turner
Principal, Marion Carson School
