*A reminder that there is no school from Friday, November 8 to Wednesday, November 13, 2024 for Fall Break. School resumes Thursday, November 14, 2024. We hope that the Fall Break can be a chance for families to spend time together in whichever way suits them best.

We have been lucky to be continuing to enjoy some moderate weather in Calgary. As the weather can change quite quickly, please continue to send your child to school in layers appropriate to the day’s weather forecast. We appreciate that families have been doing this since our last messaging. Thank you. Please remember to label all of your child’s items so that they can be returned if misplaced. To help us keep a safe, dry, and clean atmosphere inside our school, we also ask that families ensure that students have proper indoor runners for when in the school, that are separate from their outdoor runners and boots. These indoor runners should be appropriate for being active in physical education. Please avoid items such as crocs, sandals or dress shoes, and ensure that the runners are non-marking. Thank you for your support.

A few items of note…

Remembrance Day Ceremony / Assembly

The Grade 5/6 students are hosting our school's Remembrance Day ceremony on November 7. The ceremony begins at 10:45am and concludes at 11:15 am. Please speak to your child(ren) to support an understanding that it is a solemn assembly, where we pay our respect to those who fought for our freedom. If any students are members of Scouts, Girl Guides, Cadets, or other similar uniformed or affiliated groups, they are encouraged to dress in uniform should they wish.

We would like to invite parents of performing students from Grade 5 and 6 classes as well as parents of children in uniform to attend if able. Please note that due to fire safety code we have to limit our parent viewing to the first 150 parents. Doors will open at 10:40am. If waiting outside, we ask that you please line up along the Main West Door sidewalk leading out towards Varsity Drive.

Please note, that students will be given a poppy (sticker or pin) on November 7. We encourage families to donate to the Poppy Fund with a small cash donation. Student leaders will be circulating the school on the morning of Wednesday, November 7 collecting donations from students.

Veteran’s Food Bank of Alberta Food Drive - Nov. 4-7

The Grade 5 and 6 teams are excited to announce the Veteran's Food Bank of Alberta Food Drive will be running from November 4 to 7, 2024. We are asking parents, guardians and students to participate by donating items such as non-perishables, self-care products, toiletries, culinary implements, and/or pet food. Donations brought to school can placed in the donation bins located by the main entrance.
