I would like to say thank you to our students led by our Grade 5/6 team for their leadership in today’s Remembrance Day Assembly. I encourage everyone over the Fall break and specifically on November 11th, to take some time to visit the many events around the city in honour of those who have served and currently serve to protect our values and freedoms.

A reminder that schools are closed from November 8 to 12, 2025 for Fall Break. School resumes on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Some items of note…

1.    SoundKreations Dance Residency

Reminder that the SoundKreations Dance Residency starts on our first day back from Fall Break on November 13, 2025.

2.    Whole School Field Trip – World Cup Speedskating

We are excited to announce that all K-6 classrooms scheduled to be in attendance on Friday, November 21 will be going on a field trip to the Olympic Oval, to cheer on Olympic hopefuls in the Speedskating World Cup event. The cost of the tickets for this event is fully covered, therefore the only cost to families is $5/student for busing. This fee has now been added to your MyCBE account for payment. Field trip forms went home yesterday. We have a limited number of volunteer spots available (1/class). Please connect with your child’s teacher should you be interested in volunteering.

3.    School Photos Retakes / Class Photos

November 26 is scheduled to be our individual student photo retake day. Lifetouch has also contacted us stating that they would like to redo our classroom photos that were taken back in September due to some lighting/shadow challenges. On November 26th, we will be retaking our whole class photos for each homeroom class. Tuesday/Thursday Mandarin Bilingual Kindergarten will have their Class Photo on November 27, 2025.

4.    Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences.

Our next Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences are coming up on November 27 (from 4:30pm-8:30pm) and 28 (from 8:30am – 1:30pm). The School Conferences Booking System will open on this Saturday, November 22 at 10am through your MyCBE account. The booking system will close on Thursday, November 27 at 1pm. It is important that all families book a conference time to connect more formally with their child’s teacher(s) about their learning.

For a more formalized meeting to discuss your child’s specific learning in PE&W or Music, please email Ms. Collins at Adcollins@cbe.ab.ca or Ms. Seto at SuSeto@cbe.ab.ca to setup an alternate meeting time.

5.    Book Fair

Our fall book fair will be during PST conferences on November 27th 4:30pm-8:00pm and Nov 28th 9:00am-1:00pm! Get ready to shop for some exciting new reads. Students will have the opportunity to preview the book fair during that week and create their wish lists.

Book Donations:

  • If you would like to donate a book to your child’s classroom, please consider looking at the Teacher Wish List table while at the conferences with your child.
  • Teachers truly appreciate your support, and this is one way that you could choose to support your teacher, your child, and their classroom.

Volunteers:

  • Our school book fairs are run entirely by parent volunteers.  We need parents to help to make this happen. Please help us out if you have the capacity that week, a link will be sent out soon, but in the meantime you can email mcschoolcouncil@gmail.com if interested.
