Staff at Marion Carson would like to thank all parents for donating their time, effort, and cooking expertise in making the staff appreciation potluck happen last week. Staff felt overjoyed with your generosity. We appreciate the kind gesture.
Thank you also to all families for attending their child’s parent-student-teacher conferences. Although these more formal communication periods occur at set points throughout the year such as during future conference dates in November and March, and report card online viewing dates at the end of January and June, we encourage all families to continue to communicate with their classroom teachers in support of student learning at any point throughout the year as they see fit. Be sure to stay connected with your child’s Google Classroom for weekly updates and ongoing messaging. Should you have any concerns that require school support, or wish to share successes with the school, please connect with your child’s teacher.
As we approach cold and flu season, a reminder that students who are ill should stay home to rest and take care of their health. This supports their health, but also the health of all staff and students in the school. When your child is ill, please call the school’s 24-hour attendance line at 403-777- 6050 and press “1” to leave a message. Please tell us of any absence before the start of the school day to ensure your child's safety. It is also helpful to email your child’s teacher so that they are aware, but this may not be received before school starts. We appreciate your cooperation.

Thank you to all families who supported the Toonie for Terry cash campaign, or who donated through our school on the online Terry Fox fundraising page. As a school we raised $587.33! Thank you for supporting this cause and to Ms. Collins and our student leaders for organizing this event.
Grade 4 Learning Celebration – October 11, 2024 (Community English and Mandarin Bilingual Students)
All students in Grade 4 are leading our upcoming learning celebration on October 11, 2024 starting at 10:10am. This celebration focuses on students sharing their learning including connections to “Spirit - To Be”.
We would like to invite parents of performing students from Grade 4 classes to attend if able. Please note that due to fire safety code we have to limit our parent viewing to the first 150 parents. Doors will open at 10:05am. If waiting outside, we ask that you please line up along the Main West Door sidewalk leading out towards Varsity Drive.
Milk Program
Is your family interested in signing up for the daily milk program? This program provides daily milk to students who sign-up for a fee. If interested, please return your child’s milk form by October 11, 2024. Payment will then be made through your child’s MyCBE account posted as a fee to add to your cart by October 14, 2024. For those signed up, for the Milk Program, milk distribution will begin on October 21, 2024.

School Council / Parent Association Meeting
School Council has invited MLA Dr. Luanne Metz, and Trustee Charlene May to our upcoming meeting. We are collecting questions in advance of the meeting to support staying within our scheduled time frame for the meeting and to hopefully support each representative’s responses. To submit a question for MLA Dr. Metz or School Board Trustee May, please email your question to mcschoolcouncil@gmail.com by 11:59 pm MT, Tuesday, October 8, 2024. We hope you consider joining us at next month’s meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 6:30pm. Meeting minutes and upcoming agendas are posted to our school website here once finalized.
School Apparel
Parent Association has exciting news. We are selling Marion Carson School apparel. Clothing items were out on display at the School Council table during School Conferences. They are now up in the front display case near the main office. We are taking orders now through October 15, 2024 at 11:59pm, with orders expected to arrive at the school within 4 weeks. Orders will be sent home with your child upon arrival.
