Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,
It has been another exciting week at Marion Carson! Students had a wonderful time participating in our first Carson’s College session just this morning, enjoying opportunities to learn, explore, and have fun together.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our School Council Executives for organizing the recent meeting with our Trustee and CBE representatives to answer families’ questions about upcoming grade configuration and boundary changes for the 2027-28 school year. We appreciate the families as well who attended, shared their questions, and engaged in these important conversations. Meeting minutes will be posted on our website once they are ready. Thank you for continuing to work together with us as we navigate these changes and support our Marion Carson community.

1. School Photos Retakes- October 27, 2026
We will be having our individual student photo retake day on October 27, 2026. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like your child to have retakes done. If your child is in M/W Mandarin Bilingual Kindergarten class and you would like to have retakes done, please bring your child to school between 9:15-10:15am.
2. Bus Safety
This week, we met with our bus students to review expectations for safe and responsible behaviour on the school bus. We discussed how every student has a responsibility to help keep themselves and others safe. This includes keeping hands and feet to themselves, respecting others’ personal space, and avoiding rough play, pushing, or other behaviours that could put someone at risk. We also emphasized the importance of using quiet voices, remaining seated, and avoiding actions or behaviours that could distract the bus driver. The driver’s attention needs to remain on the road to ensure everyone arrives safely. Students were reminded to follow the bus driver's instructions, line up respectfully, use the handrail when getting on and off the bus, and remain seated until the driver indicates it is safe to move. Students brought home a visual reminder of these expectations. Please take a few minutes to review it with your child and reinforce the importance of making safe, respectful, and responsible choices on the bus. Keeping everyone safe is a shared responsibility, and every student plays an important role in ensuring a safe bus ride for all. Thank you for your support.
3. Reminder about Hallowe’en Activities
Teachers have communicated the various activities occurring within their classrooms on October 30, 2026. As a whole school, students will be engaging in the following activities:
Costumes: Students have the option to wear school appropriate costumes. Costumes that have fully covered masks, toy weapons, or that may scare students in our school community will be asked to be removed.
- Please note that costumes are optional. If your child(ren) is not wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear orange and/or black clothing, or dress as per a typical school day. We will be having a whole school costume parade in the gym in the morning; participation is optional.
- Students are invited to wear their costumes for the day (reminder that Fridays are an early dismissal)
Treats: If looking to send any Hallowe’en treats or items to school to share with classmates, we kindly ask the following:
- Treats must be individually pre-packaged and will be sent home by teachers for enjoyment at home under parent supervision and discretion
- Please ensure that if choosing to send any items, there is an item for each child in the classroom.
