*A reminder that there is no school on Friday, October 25 as it is a non-instructional day. School resumes Monday, October 28, 2024.
We look forward to seeing families at tonight’s Hallowe’en Dance. The dance is from 5:30 to 7:30pm. A reminder to families to have their tickets ready on their phones to have quick entry into the dance through the West Doors and that parents must remain onsite to supervise their children at all times. To ensure that we are keeping within our capacity limits, families with pre-purchased tickets will be allowed entry first. Any walk-up request for tickets will be considered after 6pm, based on available space, and tickets can only be purchased using cash. We hope everyone has a wonderful time tonight.
A few items of note…
Take Me Outside Day
Thank you to Marion Carson parent Ms. Karchut for volunteering her time with Take Me Outside Day. The students were given an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity using loose parts such as tires, felt and more to create various items. A great demonstration on how creative play can come from various avenues and spur our imagination.
Hallowe’en Based Activities
Teachers will be communicating the various activities occurring within their classrooms on this day. As a whole school, students will be engaging in the following activities:
- Pumpkinella: on October 31 families are invited to take to school a decorated or carved pumpkin to put on display in the Library Learning Commons.
- Participating students should carry their pumpkin to and from school in a tear-proof bag.
- If you would like to light up your pumpkin, please use a battery-operated tea light (no candles)
- Please label your pumpkin with a permanent marker
- All pumpkins not picked up by 4:15pm on October 31st will be composted
- Costumes: Students have the option to wear school appropriate costumes. Costumes that have fully covering masks, toy weapons, or that may scare students in our school community will be asked to be removed
- Please note that costumes are optional. If your child(ren) will not be wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear orange and/or black clothing, or dress as per a typical school day.
- Students are invited to wear their costumes for the day.
- Treats: If looking to send any Hallowe’en treats or items to school to share with classmates, we kindly ask the following:
- Treats must be individually pre-packaged and will be sent home by teachers for enjoyment at home under parent supervision and discretion
- Please ensure that if choosing to send any items, that there is an item for each child in the classroom.
Photo Retakes
Photo retakes for those looking for a redo of their first student photo, or whose child was not in attendance on the original photo day can have retakes done on the morning of October 29, 2024.
Sincerely,
Mr. Dustin Turner
