Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,

As we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, I would like to take a moment to thank our families for your continued engagement, support, and partnership with our school community.

We recognize that there have been questions and feedback regarding the changes for 2027-28 school year that was emailed to families on October 1, 2026. Here is the link for the information that was emailed. Many of the questions raised will be addressed at our upcoming School Council meeting on October 20th, online, at 6:30pm. Members of the Planning and Facilities Services team, our area director Aubrey Fletcher, as well as Trustee Jenny Regal will be in attendance to share information about the changes, explain the rationale behind the changes, and respond to questions from families. For more information about this meeting and how you can submit questions ahead of time, please refer to the MCSC/MCPA update below.

I wish everyone a wonderful long weekend filled with rest, connection, and time with the people who matter most.

  1. Hallowe’en Activities

Teachers will be communicating the various activities occurring within their classrooms on October 30, 2026. As a whole school, students will be engaging in the following activities:

Costumes: Students have the option to wear school appropriate costumes. Costumes that have fully covering masks, toy weapons, or that may scare students in our school community will be asked to be removed

  • Please note that costumes are optional. If your child(ren) will not be wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear orange and/or black clothing, or dress as per a typical school day.
  • Students are invited to wear their costumes for the day (reminder that Fridays are an early dismissal)

Treats: If looking to send any Hallowe’en treats or items to school to share with classmates, we kindly ask the following:

  • Treats must be individually pre-packaged and will be sent home by teachers for enjoyment at home under parent supervision and discretion
  • Please ensure that if choosing to send any items, there is an item for each child in the classroom.

Parent Council Meeting – October 20

As parents and guardians of students at Marion Carson, you're all automatically members of the Marion Carson School Council. School Council Executive along with Marion Carson Principal, Ms. Ly and Marion Carson Assistant Principal, Ms. Wilcox, would like to invite you to join us online at the next Parent Council meeting Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 PM.

We are excited to welcome CBE Trustee, Jenny Regal to our October 20 meeting. The Trustee represents our community on the CBE Board of Trustees, helping provide local representation and oversight of public education in our area. Given the recent announcement about grade configurations and boundary changes at Marion Carson, we know many of you have questions. Please share any questions you might have in advance which will allow Trustee Regal and CBE representatives to gather the detailed information needed to provide meaningful answers.

Please submit questions via google forms by 6 PM Thursday October 15: https://forms.gle/jTZNAw2SPiMye43c9

Watch for the link to join the virtual meeting in the Principal’s weekly message on Friday, October 16 — and remember, all parents and guardians are members of Parent Council. We'd love for you to participate!
