Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Meet the Teacher and Kindergarten Parent-Teacher Conference evenings last night and this morning. We heard from many families that they appreciated the opportunity to learn more about their child’s classroom routines, processes, and expectations, as well as having the chance to tour the classroom and connect with other teachers who are part of their child’s learning experience. It was a wonderful opportunity to begin building those important home-school connections for the year ahead.

On Tuesday, September 29, students at Marion Carson School are invited to wear orange shirts or other orange clothing in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Orange Shirt Day provides an opportunity for schools across Canada to recognize and learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, which operated in Canada from the 17th century until the late 1990s. This year, our learning will also focus on land-based learning and connect to our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment | 2026-2027 . Through age- and grade-appropriate learning, students will have opportunities to listen, learn, reflect, and build their understanding of truth and reconciliation.
2. A reminder that there is no school on September 30 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation). School resumes on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
3. School Patrols
We are excited to share that our AMA School Patrol Program will be starting soon at the FEO crosswalk. Patrol shifts begin on Monday, September 28, 2026. We would like to extend our thanks to the students who have volunteered to serve as patrollers. Their commitment to leadership, responsibility, and helping keep our school safe is greatly appreciated. We are proud of the positive example they will be setting for others each day. Thank you for your support as we begin another year of school patrols.
