Student-Led Conferences – March 21/22
Our Student-led Conferences will be occurring Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22, 2024. These conferences are an opportunity where all students attend with their parents. Each child will lead their parent/guardian through some activities and artifacts that demonstrate their in-class learning, progress, and experience.
We are asking parents to sign-up for a 1-hour time slot using the school conference manager under the Book and Manage Meetings Times icon found within their MyCBE account. The Conference Manager System will open Saturday, March 16 at 10am for bookings and will close Thursday, March 21 at 12pm noon.
During your booked time, parents are invited to drop-in to their child’s classroom where students will have artifacts / activities to share with their parents. These activities will take approximately 20-30 minutes - such that the conferences are not rushed and that you have time to move from one class to the next should families have more than one child / conference to attend. Parents with more than one child are asked to book a 1-hour time slot for each child’s homeroom teacher (this could be the same 1-hour time slot booked with more than 1 teacher). We kindly ask that when you are completed the activities within the class you move on to the next activity or to other parts of your evening/day to ensure that all families have space to celebrate in their child’s learning.
Student-Led Conference Times:
- Thursday, March 21 from 4:30pm – 7:30pm (Book Fair open from 4:30pm - 7:45pm)
- Friday, March 22 from 9:00am – 12:00pm (Book Fair open from 8:45am – 12:15pm)
Please note that this is a time for you and your child to share and celebrate in their learning. As there will be multiple families in the room at the same time, we ask for parents to refrain from asking personal questions about their child and instead communicate and ask specific questions with teachers through another format. As always, we encourage families to have ongoing communication with their child’s teacher throughout the school year. We look forward to students sharing their joy and excitement for learning during this event.
Yearbook
We are happy to announce that Marion Carson will be having a yearbook published this year.
We have a lot of joyful moments that have and continue to bring Marion Carson School together as a community of belonging and want to celebrate these through the Marion Cason School Yearbook. Please note that this yearbook will be containing materials that include students' photographs, names, as well as information about the activities and events that the school organized throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Teachers may also include other artistic and academic materials, as well as multi-cultural projects.
The yearbook content is primarily produced through the efforts of staff and grade 5 student volunteers. Marion Carson school will be using the services of Lifetouch Photography to create the final product.
Purchasing of the yearbook is voluntary. If you have any questions about the collection, use, disclosure or protection of personal information in connection with the publication of the yearbook, please connect with your child’s teacher or the school office.
The yearbook is available for purchase to all students at the school for $20/student by going to www.ybpay.ca and using code: 15269224. Deadline to order is April 26, 2024.
