Grade 1/2 Learning Celebration – May 3, 2024
Our grade 1 and 2 students from the Community English and Mandarin Bilingual Programs came together to kick off our Jump Rope for Heart Day, while also sharing their learning about the virtue of honesty in connection the 7 Sacred Grandfather Teachings.
Thank you students for coming together and sharing your learning journey with the school. You did an absolutely amazing job of sharing your learning through examples and words about honesty.
Swimming May 6-16, 2024
A reminder to parents of students in Kindergarten to Grade 4 that swimming lessons are occurring at Winston Churchill Pool from May 6-16. Please ensure that you have made note of the specific days that your child is swimming and that they are fully prepared for the day, according to the field trip forms that went home, and messaging from your child’s teacher.
*We want to ensure all of our students have this important life skill. Should any families need financial support in helping their child attend these swimming lessons, please contact the school office at marioncarson@cbe.ab.ca no later than Tuesday, May 7th, 2024.
Music Monday – May 6, 2024
On Monday, May 6, 2024 we will be celebrating the joy of music at Marion Carson School. Ms. Seto has worked with students who wanted to volunteer to share their love for music in various ways around the building during soft entry. We look forward to the instrument playing, and singing on this day as we recognize the benefits and joy of music in our lives.
Hats on for Mental Health – May 8, 2024
On May 8, students are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good metal health. We at Marion Carson School are inviting students to wear hats of all shapes and sizes to encourage students and teachers to build an understanding surrounding mental health and the importance of removing any stigma associated with mental illnesses. We encourage families to connect with their children about mental health and wish to share the supports below.

Marion Carson Run Club
Thank you to everyone who joined us on the morning of our first Run Club. It was a beautiful sunny morning for a walk/run. Everyone is always welcome to join. Today, students ran over 650 laps of our course as a group. We hope to see you next Friday from 8:55am to 9:10am in the school soccer fields.
Class Requests for 2024-25 School Year
As we approach the final months of the school year, we begin our planning process in creating our class lists for the 2024-25 school year. Current year classroom teachers create class lists in consultation with admin and teacher specialists. Through this process, we take into account various factors such as students are placed in a classroom believed to support a most successful learning experience for each child as a whole throughout the upcoming school year. Should you have a specific peer request or additional information to support class placement specific to your child’s education, we invite you at this time to email our school at MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca.
Please note that requests will only be considered if of an educational nature and which include a detailed reasoning to support the request. Although all requests are considered, they are not guaranteed as we must balance the various organizational needs of the school. Requests and additional information for consideration must be submitted before Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Marion’s Meadow Clean-Up
We invite you and your family to join us for one (or both!) of these clean up days for Marion's Meadow! We are so lucky to have this amazing naturalized space at our school to support kids learning, play, and mental health. It is 100% maintained by the parent community, so we need your support to help it continue to be a beautiful and thriving space. No skills required. We'll have parent and master garden Deb there to direct us. All you need is some enthusiasm and some gardening gloves! Bring your kids along and make this a family activity!
