Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,

In this message…

-          Welcome Back

-          Dress for the Weather

-          Casino Fundraiser

It was great to see the students’ smiling faces coming back to school. Teachers and Administration would like to thank all parents for their messages and actions of support during the labour action over the past few weeks and specifically today upon teachers and students return. We know that this was an added stress for everyone involved. I am proud of our students for coming to school today ready to learn and for jumping right back into their daily routine. I am also proud of our teachers and support staff for ensuring a smooth transition back to school that supported student learning and success. We will continue to work towards and advocate for ever-improving education for our students.

Some items of note…

o   Hallowe’en Activities

o   Dress for the Weather

o   Casino Fundraiser

1.    Hallowe’en Activities

Teachers will be communicating the various activities occurring within their classrooms on this day. As a whole school, students will be engaging in the following activities:

a.    Costumes: Students have the option to wear school appropriate costumes. Costumes that have fully covering masks, toy weapons, or that may scare students in our school community will be asked to be removed

o   Please note that costumes are optional. If your child(ren) will not be wearing a costume, they are welcome to wear orange and/or black clothing, or dress as per a typical school day.

o   Students are invited to wear their costumes for the day (reminder that Fridays are an early dismissal)

b.    Treats: If looking to send any Hallowe’en treats or items to school to share with classmates, we kindly ask the following:

o   Treats must be individually pre-packaged and will be sent home by teachers for enjoyment at home under parent supervision and discretion

o   Please ensure that if choosing to send any items, that there is an item for each child in the classroom.

2.    Dress for the Weather

We have been lucky to be having such beautiful weather continuing through October. With Calgary weather often being unpredictable, we would like to remind parents to send their child to school with warm clothing such as mitts, a toque, winter jacket and snowpants. Please also ensure that students have appropriate shoes/boots designated for outdoors.

3.    Pure Casino Fundraiser October 26 & 27

We would like to thank parent lead Vanesse L. and School Council executive for organizing the Casino fundraiser for Marion Carson School. Thank you to all volunteers who took the time to volunteer for this important fundraising event. Each volunteer who attended and donated their time is comparable to making a $1500 donation to the school based on the amount that we typically raise in this event. We appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dustin Turner

Principal, Marion Carson School
