A reminder that there is no school Friday, February 27, 2026 as it is a non-instructional day. School will resume Monday, March 2, 2026.
Thank you very much to our grade 2 students and staff in Mrs. Hoglund, Mrs. Wang, and Mrs. Lee’s classroom for their wonderful leadership during their celebration of learning performance this past Wednesday. It was a wonderful event that helped us all reflect on kindness initiatives and positive character traits. Great job students!
1. Report Cards Go Live – February 24, 2026
Student report cards are now live for viewing on your MyCBE Account. Any questions about your child’s report card or learning should be directed to your child’s teacher.
2. Safety over Convenience – Varsity Drive
A reminder to families to be sure to follow the rules of the road when dropping off or picking up students. We have noticed an increased number of families jaywalking (crossing the street at areas that are not designated crosswalks), drivers that are choosing to do U-turns along Varsity Drive, or who are blocking the road dropping off students in the middle of the road. Please be sure to continue to choose safety over convenience to ensure that all of our students arrive and leave school safely.
On a positive note, we also see that the Hug and Go section along Varsity drive directly in front of the bus zone is working very well. Please continue to use this space for a quick drop off or pick up without leaving your car unattended. This greatly helps the flow of traffic along Varsity Drive and supports student safety. Additionally, a reminder that the parking lot is not for student pick-up or drop off at any time. Even if walking, we ask that you use the sidewalks. Thank you for your cooperation.
3. Gymnastics in the Gym (March 2 – 19, 2026)
Please be sure to send your child to school ready to be active in gymnastics from March 2-19, 2026. Please see the gymnastics message in the Feb. 20 Principal’s Message for more details.
4. A Message from School Council and Parent Association
School Council and Paren Association Parent Education Night (All Parents are Welcome):
Topic: Child Predator Awareness. NO children allowed. This session will be discussing sensitive subjects around child predator awareness online and in person dangers. Let's have a conversation with an expert to get accurate information and tools to teach your children about safety.
When: March 5th 7-9pm
Where: In-Person and Online
Who: Presented by CPS Youth Education Officer Gert Vallani
How:

Bottle Drive (March 6)
Bring your bags of bottles and cans for recycling to our school on the morning of March 6th between 8:45 and 9:45am. Please feel free to stop briefly at the end of the school bus zone and a volunteer will be there to grab your bottles. For parents attending the Parent Education Night on Thursday, March 5th, you are welcome to bring your bottles then and drop them off in the front foyer. Thank you for supporting Marion Carson School Council and Parent Association initiatives.
