A very Happy Lunar New Year, guò nián hǎo 过 年 好 to all families celebrating this weekend. A reminder that there is no school February 15 and 16 due to Teacher’s Convention as well as Monday February 19 due to Family day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

 

Valentine’s Day Activities – February 14, 2024

On Wednesday, February 14, students are invited to wear red, pink, or white clothing. Teachers will be sharing information specific to their classroom regarding Valentine’s Day learning and activities, and details about any items coming to school. Please connect with your teacher should you have classroom-specific questions for this day. 

 

Registration at Marion Carson School – Deadline approaching for Mandarin Bilingual Program Lottery

If you have a student who is a current member of Marion Carson School Mandarin Bilingual program and have another student that you are hoping to have begin attending the Mandarin Bilingual Program starting next year in Kindergarten or Grade 1, please be sure to express your interest using the related online registration pages. To be considered in the lottery for our Mandarin Bilingual Program, registration/expression of interest must be completed between before February 13, 2024 at 12pm noon.  

*To be placed in the correct lottery priority placement, is important that if you have a sibling currently attending the Mandarin Bilingual program at Marion Carson School you take the time to enter the sibling information within the form, where requested, and click that you have an interest in Alternative Programs, which will lead to some additional branching questions related to our Mandarin Bilingual Program. 

Registration for the K-6 Community English program has also begun. Please spread the word about the great things happening at Marion Carson School and encourage families within our school’s catchment to join our school community.

If you have a current student at our school, please note that you do not need to re-register your child each year, as they automatically go the next grade.

 

2024-25 School Year Intent Form – Please complete by March 1, 2024

This is the time of year when we begin planning next school year’s organization, especially in terms of our enrolment and student population projections. We ask that all families complete the Intent Form linked below.

Please complete the form below to indicate whether or not you anticipate that your child/ren will attend Marion Carson School again next year. We realize that plans may change over time and would ask you to kindly let the office know in these cases, so that we may staff with accurate numbers. If you have more than one child at Marion Carson School, please fill out one form for each child for current Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. Please note that once your child is registered at Marion Carson School, the registration continues to roll over for the next year unless we hear otherwise from the family.  This applies to all families who are deemed residents of the CBE and have their primary residence in our catchment area (varies based on program).  If you have any questions, or move out of our catchment area, or have a change of address, please contact the school office by phone at 403 777-6050 or by email MarionCarson@cbe.ab.ca. Please have this form completed by March 1, 2024.

Fair Entry - Subsidy Application Process

Fair Entry is an application process for subsidized City of Calgary programs and services. This process will assess your income eligibility for multiple City programs with a single application. Just recently, High-Speed Low-Cost Internet and other telecom services have been added to the list of services available through Fair Entry. We wanted to share this information with families who would benefit from these services. A Calgary MyID account is required to access these services and can be created HERE.
