We have some exciting events coming up at Marion Carson school over the next couple of weeks. Please see below for some important information as we get ourselves ready for our whole school Lunar New Year Celebration. This year both Mandarin Bilingual and Community English Program students are coming together to celebrate, share, and perform their multi-cultural learning!

 

Lunar New Year Whole School Residency with Quest Theatre

 

Week 1 Group - January 22 to 26, 2024 with final performance on January 26, at 4pm.

 

Classes:  Ms. Spray / Ms. Tsai Group A / Ms. Saretsky / Ms. Buller Ms. Schnell / Ms. Wu / Ms. Li / Ms. Hay / Ms. Wilcock / Ms. Eastly / Mr. Ledene / Ms. Cole  

Doors will open at 3:20pm. Students should arrive no later than 3:40pm

 

Please plan on being in attendance on your respective evening to support your classroom. Similar to our Winter celebration, we expect a full building on this evening, therefore to ensure that we’re not overcrowded, stay within our building capacity limits, and ensure that all families are provided an opportunity to attend the event, we ask that families limit their attendance to a maximum of two parents/guardians per family and their sibling(s).

West Entry Doors will be opened 40 minutes before each 4pm performance. If waiting outside, please line up down the sidewalk towards Varsity Drive. Please ensure that if you are driving to this event, you park in designated parking spaces, and avoid the staff parking lot or impacting any of our surrounding community homes. 

*Parent Association has organized a Bake Sale at this event. This will be a cash only event that will open at 3:20pm and close shortly before the start of the performance. Please be sure to have your children at their classrooms before 3:40pm. We kindly request that performing students are not sent to their classroom with treats from the bake sale.

Physical Education and Wellness Classes Outdoors

Please note that during the Lunar New Year Residencies over the next two weeks, and consistently on Fridays, Physical Education and Wellness classes will be outside, weather permitting. Please ensure that your child is dressed for each day’s weather with proper footwear, gloves, toques, jackets, and snow pants for outdoor activity.

School Council and Parent Association Meeting

Thank you to all people who came to the meeting this past week. Meeting minutes from recent meetings and upcoming agendas can be found on our website here. Our next meeting is February 21, 2024 at 7pm.

 

Parent Association Bake Sale

We are hosting bake sales before the Lunar New Year performances on January 26^th and February 2^nd (3:20-4pm). Baking donations can be dropped off at the school anytime on performance days during school hours (between 9:10am and 1:20pm). Please have items packages in Ziploc baggies or plates with saran wrap on them in amount suitable for a $5 price tag, with a list of ingredients. Proceeds from the bake sale will go towards our Playground Fund. Please note that 1 slot on the sign-up genius below means approximately 1 dozen items (or $5 of value worth of items).
