1. Library Learning Commons Books Return
The week of June 8-12 will be the final book exchange for all students at Marion Carson School for the 2025-26 school year. Please return all school library books by Friday, June 12, 2026. By June 17th, our librarian, Ms. Parshina will be sending out a report to families with any outstanding/overdue books. Any books not returned by June 19 will be charged to your MyCBE account. *If you received a message that you have an outstanding book and believe this is in error, please email the school before the end of the day Thursday, June 18, 2026.
2. Learning Celebration – Led by Grade ½ Classrooms (Ms. Wu, Ms. Blair, Ms. Keller, Ms. Schnell/Ms. Weir)
Grade ½ Classrooms of Ms. Wu, Ms. Blair, Ms. Keller, and Ms. Schnell/Ms. Weir) will be hosting a Learning Celebration on Thursday, Jue 11, 2026 starting at 10:00am. The celebration will share some of the students’ current learning focusing on the Mind and Body with the theme of “Everything Grows”. We would like to invite parents of performing students to attend if able. Please note that due to fire safety code we must limit our parent viewing to the first 150 parents. Doors will open at 9:55am. If waiting outside, we ask that you please line up along the Main West Door sidewalk leading out towards Varsity Drive.
3. Talent Show – Monday, June 8, 2026
Ms. Seto has organized a talent show this Monday, June 8th. Students will have approximately 2.5 to 3 minutes each to share their music.
Ms.
Seto has been working with students to prepare for this talent show. If
you receive a messenger e-mail from her regarding this event, it means that
your child has already been informed about performing next and has been
preparing for this. If there is no message about the talent show, then
your child is not performing at this event. Please note that we do not
have space for any further additions to the list of performers.
Please
ensure that your child practices the music and comes to school with all
necessary instruments, books or supplies needed for this Monday’s performance.
The school will have a piano, guitar, drum kit, xylophones (and other
percussion instruments) available. Students will need to bring any more
personalized or specialized specific instruments to school themselves.
Parents
of performing children who would like to drop by to help your child setup, or
watch their performance are welcome to attend. We ask that parents sign in and
out at the office, and when entering the gym, use the back doors and sit on the
provided benches. Please contact Ms. Seto with any questions.
Each class is designated to a specific group. See below for the schedule.

4. New Accessible Creative Playground – Time to Build!
Did you hear the news! School Council, the Parent Association and the Playground Committee have achieved our fundraising goal for the new Accessible Creative Playground, meaning that this summer we are ready to build!
On behalf of all school staff, I would like to thank the parents who led this initiative for all their hard work and dedication in making this all possible. I would also like to thank all people who donated their time to the various fundraisers throughout the past few years, and those who were able to donate financially towards this great initiative.
We will be tearing down the old playground beginning June 29 and look forward to being able to begin construction of the new playground mid-July. Our students, families and residents of Calgary are lucky to have such a great group of Marion Carson School families who together were able to work towards this gift for our school and the Varsity community that will be used for years and years to come. What an amazing impact on our school, the community, and Calgary.
