A reminder that there is no school Friday, October 20, 2023 (non-instructional, professional learning day)

 

School Yard Safety:

A friendly reminder that our dismissal time from Monday to Thursday is 3:50pm and Friday is at 1:20pm. We kindly ask that parents be at the school before this time near their child’s entry doors or at a predetermined pick-up spot to ensure that their child is supervised immediately upon dismissal. Children who stay and play on school grounds should be supervised by their parent/guardian or a pre-determined adult at all times to ensure their safety. A reminder that this is a public space after school hours.

If your child walks home from school, we ask that you remind them to immediately make their way home to ensure their own safety between home and school, and to have a communication plan between you and your child in place.

If you typically pick-up your child and are running late due to an unforeseen circumstance, please be sure to call the school office, so that we can inform your child before dismissal. Please also speak to your children that if parents have not arrived at their usual pick-up spot by the time our busses pull away, that they should come to the front west doors, and ring the doorbell for safety and support.

A Reminder from School Council / Parent Association

 

Thank you to those who attended our School Council / Parent Association meeting on October 20^th.  Our next meeting will be on Friday, November 17 at 9:30am. Please make note of the date and time as we look for ways for our meetings to be more accessible to families. A meeting reminder will be shared closer to the day.

Fun Snack

The deadline to order Fun Snack Day’s Halloween Cookies is October 22 at 11:59pm. Please be sure to still send your child to school with appropriate food for this day. Please visit https://healthyhunger.ca/ to place your order. Volunteers needed to carry the prepaid snacks to the classrooms to be handed out. Thank you to those parents who have volunteered for this event.

Halloween Dance

Marion Carson Parent Association’s Halloween Dance is Friday, October 27, 2023 from 6-8pm. Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Costumes encouraged! Please do not have students wear costumes with any with weapons or masks covering faces. Tickets are now open for purchase! Click here to purchase tickets (opens October 13)

There are still various shifts needed to be filled to run this event. To volunteer for the Halloween Dance please click here

The Halloween Dance will include: music, lights, costume contests (for kids AND adults), prizes, cash only concession and a whole lot of fun!
