Hello / Nǐ hǎo Marion Carson School Families,

It was great to see everyone in our school field this morning for the Welcome Back Mix and Mingle organized by our Parent Association, and for the Terry Fox run that followed. What a wonderful morning shared by all. It was very impressive to see our younger students representing our school with their smiles, effort and positive attitude, running alongside our neighbouring students and teachers at FE Osborne. Our students were amazing ambassadors for our school and community.

3.      Orange Shirt Day – September 26, 2025

On Friday, September 26, students at Marion Carson School are invited to wear orange shirts and/or clothing in recognition of Orange Shirt Day, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Orange shirt day is a day in which schools across Canada recognize, and teach about the residential schools that occurred between 1931 and 1996. Teachers engage with students in a holistic method of approaching this day, and one that relies on their knowledge of students within each of their classroom communities. Our focus this year encompasses the lens of our exploration of "We Connect" in connection to our Marion Carson School Truth and Reconciliation Commitment | 2025-2026 as shared with our school community on June 20, 2025. The events of residential schools are carefully discussed in an age and grade appropriate way.

4.      Forms Due

Thank you to all families who completed their demographic form by the due date. Parents have completed 465 of the demographic forms out of our 500 students. Amazing! A reminder that all forms (online and printed/signed) found in the September 5 weekly message  were due this past Monday, September 15, 2025.

-          Have you completed the two online consent to release information forms in your SchoolEngage account through MyCBE? How about the online demographic form?

-          Have you printed and returned the commitment page in the family handbook and the Admirable Use Policy/Digital Citizenship form?

Thank you to all families for completing these forms to support student safety and school organization.
